Ways to Boost Your Car’s Horse Power and Torque

engine oilEver since the advent of internal combustion engine which occurred more than a century ago, a lot of performance enhancements have been made from time to time. I once visited Springfield tow truck to change the torque of my auto, and yes, it feels good. In a car engine, torque refers to the measure of the amount of force applied to rotate an object. This effect is applied to a lever arm, which in turn is measured in Newton Metres. Torque is a product of the power used and the measurable length of the lever arm.

To improve the engine torque power of your vehicle, there are various ways to go about it. Engines are mostly about maths, physics and the process of converting heat energy into mechanical motion. But how do you get started about the whole process? We have easy steps to increase your car’s and engine performance and horsepower. Here is how to go about it;

Synthetic Lubricants

Synthetic lubricants and synthetic motor oils reduce friction and help engines live longer. Such lubricants have a more enhanced lubrication between moving parts than conventional oils do. These lubricants do not break down in high heat or high-stress conditions, and that is the reason they are used a lot in high-performance applications.  These lubricants also offer excellent cold weather performance in extreme temperatures.

Larger Throttle Body

throttleIf your car has a larger throttle body, it will deliver an enhanced horsepower. Depending on the type of engine you have, you can clock as much as 10-20 more horsepower and good torque. However, if you go too big, you might lose power because not every engine is suited for a larger throttle body, and you have to do your homework right ahead of time. You need to research from the internet to see what others in the game with the same engine capabilities are doing about the same.  Also, you have to remember that large throttle requires higher flow fuel injectors.

The most productive way to increase engine horsepower is through increasing compression. When you build compression in your engine, you are making power. Cam selection and compression go hand in hand as cam selection also affect working compression and cylinder pressure. Your engine builder should be in a better position to advise you on cam selection and compression. Both have to be chosen in the right balance and to avoid damaging the engine.
